Welcome to Yoga Jo’s!


If you are new to yoga and would like to practice with us you must take the beginners 6 week block at the studio.  After that you can choose to take classes with us both in the studio and online. This is for safety reasons.  When we have worked with you in person we then know there is a level of basic understanding which will help us to keep you safe online.   The 6 week blocks at the studio will be run with all government guidelines in place with regards to COVID.  

Below we we have listed some information to help you navigate your first visit to the studio and decide which classes you would like to explore. Please take the time to read through to the end.  You will find more details on yoga styles and the classes here. Class Levels


All classes in the studio are split into these levels to help you to see which are suitable for you.  

Absolute Beginners – attend the 6 week block of beginners yoga (in studio only) then you can access both online and in studio.    

 Level 1 – beginners or those looking for a slow/moderately paced class  

Level 2 – been attending classes regularly for at least 12 months and ready for a challenge 

All Levels – open level class, pace and postures will be modified to suit all levels, including those who have just completed beginners blocks  

Beginners 6 week Blocks
If you are an absolute beginner to yoga we recommend you do our 6 week block of beginners classes.  

These take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 – 7.15 pm and a Monday morning at 11.15 am – 12.30 pm  These are designed to give you a good understanding of what yoga is all about and prepare you to move safely into the other classes.  They also allow you to gain access to our online classes.  Go to our workshop page to see details and to book our beginners blocks. 

Please note if you are trying to book through the Mindbody app it wills say the class  is full, this is because the app doesn’t work with multi day events and this is a 6 week block.  To book please book through our full Mindbody site you will find the link at the top or bottom of this page.

After you’ve done the 6 week beginner block

After you have done a beginners block with us you are able to attend both studio and live stream classes.  So make sure when you sign up that you choose the correct option.  Live stream means you would like to do the class at home rather than in the studio.  If you choose this option you will be sent a zoom link roughly half an hour before the class starts and you just click on the link to attend the class. If you choose the studio option then you attend the studio. We recommend that you attend the studio, you will  learn much more in the studio environment.

Here are the classes we recommend you move on to when your beginners block is finished, they are all level 1 or all levels, so suitable for beginners but please take the 6 week course first.  If you go to our class timetable and click on the class you will be able to read a description about the classes:     

In the daytime:  
  • ​ Monday at 9.30 am – Seasonal Flow with LJ  (studio only)

  • Tuesdays at 9.30 am  – Mysore with Jo  – studio only (only if you have done astanga beginners course)
  • Tuesdays at 11.45 am – Gentle Hatha  (studio only)
  • Wednesdays at 9.30 am – Mysore with Jo – studio only (only if you have done astanga beginners course)
  • Wednesdays at 11.30 am – Hatha Yoga with Rowena  (studio only)
  • Thursdays at 11.30 am​  – Mairi’s Yin and Restorative class  (studio only)
  • Fridays at 11.30 am – Melissa’s Hatha class  (studio only)
  • Saturday mornings at 7.45 am – Eric’s Power Yoga  (studio only)
  • Sunday at 10.30 am – Melissa’s Yin class (studio and live stream)

In the evenings:

  • Tuesdays at 6.15 pm – Dynamic hatha class with Liz (studio only) modified for all levels but expect to work hard

  • Wednesday at 7:45 pm – LJ’s Seasonal Flow  (in studio or live stream)

  • Thursdays at 6.00 pm – Astanga led class with Sally  (in studio only) please only if you have done the astanga beginners course
  • Thursdays at 7.45 pm – Hayley’s Hatha class  (in studio or live stream)

  • Friday  at 6.15 pm​ – Hayley’s  Relax and Unwind Hatha class   (in studio and live stream)

All the teachers at the studio are here to support your yoga journey.  We work as a team of teachers progressing you at the correct level so don’t feel if you are attending one class that you can’t attend others too or change between them.  Mix and match.  Once you have been practising regularly for a minimum of 12 months you could try one of the level 2 classes.  

Mysore astanga practice is also suitable for beginners and is one of the best ways to practice yoga.  This is a set series of postures which you practice in your own time.  Jo will teach you the practice at your own pace with variations for your own body.  We highly recommend this style of practice if you want to take up yoga seriously.  Please take the 6 week Introduction to Astanga course first.
