Special Needs Yoga

Unfortunately due to covid we are unable to run these sessions at present.

At YogaJo’s we want to give back to the community in which we live. Our karma yoga project at YogaJo’s is to give free one to one sessions to special needs children. They bring us so much joy and we are so grateful for all they teach us.

As a mother of a child with special needs, Jo the owner of YogaJo’s, is aware that there are not enough services available for those with special needs and so when she built YogaJo’s she wanted the studio to be accessible to all members of the community. We are very grateful and honoured to be considered the Scottish Sangha (group) of the Special Yoga Foundation in London run by the very wonderful Jyoti Manuel. This amazing teacher and human being has dedicated her life to passing on the benefits of Yoga for Special needs children and adults throughout the world. Jo trained with Jyoti in London in 2012 and has been working one to one with special needs children since then. In 2017 we were very honoured to have Jyoti come to YogaJo’s to train a group of yoga teachers in Scotland who are dedicated to sharing the work of the special yoga foundation in Scotland.

The work of Jyoti and those who work with her at the special yoga foundation is very inspiring. You can find out more about them here: www.specialyoga.org.uk Special Yoga run trainings annually at YogaJo’s for those interested in this work.  There is a 3 day course for autism and the flagship 7 day course special yoga for special children. At YogaJo’s we want to give back to the community in which we live. We have a dedicated team of volunteers who provide free one to one sessions for children with special needs. If you have a child with special needs that you think would benefit from this work please contact us.
